Amerimax Home #85208 downspout funnel from Home Depot makes a perfect flash diffuser with a large surface area for excellent shadow softening.
Fits perfectly and securely on my Canon Speedlight 580ex II as it comes.
It did come with little tabs sticking off the wide side for attaching with screws to a house or whatever (it’s a part for a gutter/downspout). I just clipped those off with wire cutters.

My attempt at a budget camera strap made from a shoulder pad from a laptop case strap, a strap from a camera bag, buckles from an old rucksack, an old 1/4 inch bolt, a threaded disk from a camera mount and a large ‘D’ ring from the Custom Saber Shop that I had lying around spare. The catch is strong enough to hold my Fuji FinePix S1000f securely.
These photos are of my DIY projects that I have made for my own use and enjoyment. I don’t make this stuff for anyone else and I also don’t do instructions (sorry) – try instructables.com/technology/photography for a wide range of great DIY photography ideas.

I bought this lens used for about $5 USD (P250 Philippine Peso). This is a vintage lens with markings PMZ 280 and focal length of 80 mm – 200 mm, aperture of f/4.5. I’m not familiar with mountings, so I tried to modify the mount myself using the Nikon D90 body cap)

More images and construction tips to follow, but this is the basic idea.
I had a Beseler 23CII that was missing a part and frankly was not going to be used again. I realized that the adjustability of the chassis (both in elevation and in tilt) made it very versatile and stable. I realized that if the camera could be positioned at the lens board area, it also gives you focusing rail capabilities.
Tinker Tubes are barely part of the package here, but they give you a lot of versatility (with low weight) on the bottom end. I used 1" high pressure PVC. They are held to the chassis with bolts and T-Nuts. The length and diameter you need will depend upon the diameter of the PVC you choose.
