DIY Project, I will survive

DIY Project, I will survive

Today the zipper-handle of my wintercoat ran out on me. It just broke. But, when it rains, it pours. In Addition the zipper-glider got jammed. Poor me. I was afraid of never be free of my coat again. But then my survival skills kicked in and I fixed the zipper with just the right tool. A paper-clip.
Sometimes I’m just talking too much. ;-)

Diy colored chalk

Diy colored chalk

You found the right instructable! This DIY colored Chalk is perfect for drawing on the sidewalk and it is washable! Drawing on the sidewalk can be very fun, so let’s start making our own DIY colored chalk!
You will need: tempera paints, empty wrapping paper rolls, plaster of Paris, baking paper, water, masking tape.
Line the interiors with baking paper, tape the base to seal one end, and set aside. Then, make the plaster mix. Pour plaster in a cup (a little over halfway through), add 2 tbsp of tempera paint. Add water until you get a runny mush. Pour the mixture into the roll with the cardboard base. Leave it to dry in a sunny spot and remove the paper roll. The chalks will be ready when they are fully dry.

Do-It-Yourself Lens Hood

If you are like me then you are bound to have one lens in your collection of gear that either did not come with a lens hood, or you lost it, or it was stolen, or it was damaged. Well, what to do? You can always replace the hood or if it is not too big of a deal to have one on your lens as is the case with the nifty fifty because the actual lens is recessed, then you go the do-it-yourself route and build one. It is easy and it is inexpensive, but the caveat if there is one, is that the aesthetics of it are a little cheesy and unprofessional. So, this is not something I would keep on the lens permanently, rather keep it flat in your gear bag and pull it out when you have flare and are forced to use that angle causing the flare. So how do you build one?
Here you go:

Materials:
X-acto knife (sharp cutting instrument)
pencil
Cutting mat
Straight edge
Foam/heavy card stock/plastic(binder)
Website for the lens hood template
www.lenshoods.co.uk/
Steps:
1. Go to website and find the template for the lens hood you need, print the pdf file, making sure not to blow it up or reduce it’s size.
2. Print template
3. Cut template out
4. Transfer template to foam/card stock/plastic
5. Cut out lens hood from your choice of material
6. Fold and attach somehow…gaffer tape is always good and so is Velcro
7. Use when needed
